Velour
A knit or woven fabric with a thick, short, cut pile.
Velveteen
A fabric with a low filling pile made by cutting an extra set of filling yarns woven in a float formation and bound to the back of the material at intervals by weaving over and under one or more warp ends.
Velvet
A fabric with a short, closely woven pile, originally made of silk, it is today made of rayon, nylon, acrylic cut pile fabrics.
Vents, Front & Back
Allow for breathability and may aid in ease of decoration, allowing the garment to be hoped and embroidered with no show-through on the inside of the garment. Some vents are tacked down and are for fashion purpose only.
Virgin Fibres
Fibres never made into fabric before, primarily used for wool fibres (virgin wool), to differentiate between these and reclaimed, reprocessed, and reused fibres.

Voile
A crisp, lightweight, plain weave cotton-like fabric, made with high twist yarns, a high yarn count construction. Similar in appearance to organdy and organza. Uses include blouses, dresses, and curtains.
