How is Coats increasing the usage of bio-degradable products?
Here at Coats we have been busy preparing a huge range of biodegradable products to suit almost any purpose from apparel to household goods and embroidery to teabag strings.
As a group we are able to spearhead the development of the best cotton, bamboo, Chinese grass (ramie) and linen sewing thread constructions. All these products are biodegradable when composted. They are specified to be developed from 100% sustainable resources and be available universally.
Complementing our biodegradable range of sewing threads, we also strive to use biodegradable packaging wherever possible. Packaging degrades only when it has been composted, not as a matter of course. But, unlike degradable plastics, our card and paper packs do not fragment and leave residues.
In addition to the products and the surrounding packaging of the product we are also developing our prototypes of completely biodegradable cones and vicones (known as the product support).
